Wedding Planning - Tips On Choosing The Right Wedding Ceremony

April 2nd, 2008 ~ No Comments

A wedding is traditionally a service that is a voluntary union between two people; although the traditional marriage ceremony have seen a decline, there are now many other methods to confirm your union. Marriage is still a legal contract despite the religious background; it is not recognized as complete until the marriage license is signed. A woman taking part in the ceremony is called a bride, a man called a bridegroom; the terms husband and wife are then the traditional terms to use after the ceremony.

Religious Services

Of course other wedding traditions can be much more complicated as soon as you look into different race, social classes and ethnic groups to name a few. Performed by a Christian priest or vicar, the Church ceremony continues to be top of the list as a venue. Primarily in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States and the British Commonwealth, these ceremonies are known as white weddings.

Double Ceremonies

A double marriage is a single ceremony where two couples rendezvous for two separate ceremonies; this often happens where a person has a brother or sister that decides to tie the knot at the same time and it is not unheard of for two brothers to marry two sisters this way.

Destination Weddings

A destination wedding is where the engaged couple and often guests travel to attend the ceremony; as a wedding option it can work out considerably less expensive this way.

Activity weekend Weddings

Some couples decide to have their wedding over the course of a weekend and this can ensure the occasion is less stressful for all concerned. Special activities, such as spa treatments and golf tournaments, are scheduled into the itinerary for guests’ enjoyment throughout the weekend. Accommodation for these is normally arranged at the place where the service is going to take place and where the other events are also being held.

An Online Wedding Ceremony

An online wedding is conducted on the internet which can resemble a normal ceremony; planning is made easy however, with online guides that list reliable and friendly vendors. Marriages that are broadcast live online are also referred to as online weddings.

Civil Weddings A civil wedding is a ceremony presided over by a local civil authority, such as an elected or appointed judge, justice of the peace or the mayor of a locality. Civil ceremonies may use references to God, but they do not generally make references to particular religions or denominations. Owing to the brevity of these ceremonies, the persons getting married do not mind if they are carried out in a city hall or even a courtroom.
